Girls' 1st XI v Framlingham

Saturday 29th September2012
Result: Won 2-1
Review: The early pressure in this game was very much in favour of the home side with Felsted struggling to come to terms with the pace of Framlingham's midfielders. It was a fast break through midfield that gave Framlingham a clear cut shooting opportunity and their centre forward slotted the ball home from close range to give then the 1-0 lead. Going behind seemed to spark Felsted into action and the pace and slickness of their play improved dramatically. Hattie Holmes and Ellie Mott-Brown were working hard to earn Felsted possession in the centre of the pitch, and clever distribution from these girls began to open up opportunities for the forwards. The Framlingham goalkeeper saved a barrage of shots from Bryony Males before a shot from Hattie Holmes deflected off the keepers pad into the goal to put Felsted back on level terms. Having got the equalizer Felsted grew with confidence and created numerous chances in the lead up to half time. Marie Harzer linked up well with Ellie Mott-Brown before playing a well placed pass to the top of the circle. Hattie Holmes timed her run to perfection and struck the ball with venom low into the bottom right hand corner. 2-1 at half time and Felsted were worthy of the lead. Having made slight changes to the defensive structure of the team at half time Felsted's defence looked secure throughout the second half. Maddie Smith allowed no right hand side attacks to develop and Lucy Muir remained disciplined for the full 60 minutes. A scary moment late in the game called Muir to make a defensive clearance off the line from behind the goalkeeper but all in all Felsted were worthy of their 2-1 victory. The girls are now looking to take their strong form into the Essex County Tournament on Wednesday as they begin their campaign for national glory.
Star Player: Lucy Muir
