Boys' U15 B v Gresham's

Saturday 12th January
Result: Draw 1-1
Felsted played some excellent hockey, especially in the second half.
Were it not for their keeper playing a blinder it could have been a victorious start to the season. The performance was built upon a solid platform from the back with good performances across the defence and by McLaren in goal. Ashley Cox was very effective when running down the right hand side and took many opportunities to put good balls into the box. Jiffy Lennon posed another good attacking threat, including a superbly taken short corner which gave the keeper no chance and gave us the lead with 15 minutes to play. Gresham's were able to grab a scrappy goal at the end to peg us back to 1-1.

It was a very good start to the season by both sides and sets us up well for a good year. MOTM: Ash Cox.

Boys' 1st XI v Gresham’s

Saturday 12th January
Result: Won 3-0
After a thorough pre-season programme the 1st XI boys’ hit the ground running against a physical Gresham’s side. First half goals from George Padfield and a brace from captain Oliver Brooks-Ward were a just reward for the pressure Felsted exerted. Despite further second half pressure no further goals were added to the score line but Felsted created a number of chances which on another day would have provided the result the performance deserved.

Boys' 2nd XI v Gresham`s

Saturday 12th January 2012
Result: Lost 2-1
An entertaining game which flowed from end to end saw Felsted take the lead through Dan Benson`s powerful and well placed penalty stroke just before half time. Gresham`s came out strongly and equalised early mid-way through the second half. With 5 minutes left, Gresham`s scored their second from open play and only a superb save in the last minute by their goalkeeper denied Felsted a draw.

Boys’ CCA v Gresham's

Saturday 12th January
Result: Won 5-3
Felsted kicked off the season with a fine victory over a Gresham’s team that improved as the match progressed. Felsted dominated the first half but could not score in the first 20 minutes. However 3 goals from penalty corners changed the game and it looked like Felsted would end the first half 3-0 up. However, Gresham’s scored two goals in 3 minutes which changed the half time brief.  Gresham’s now pressed for the equaliser but Felsted scored 2 goals from breaks out of defence which killed off the game. Gresham’s scored one more but good defence and dynamic goalkeeping restricted Gresham’s. In the first half Felsted dominated the midfield with Pete Kilpatrick linking up well with Matt Hepburn, David Smith Valls and the attacking centre backs Will Hiett and captain Will Brown.
It was a very good start to the season by both sides and sets us up well for a good year.
